A New York man was arrested on fees of allegedly threatening to kill the mayor of Yonkers and metropolis law enforcement officials at a St. Patrick’s Day parade, prosecutors mentioned.
Ridon Kola, 32, is accused of posting threatening messages on social media saying he would “slaughter” and “crucify” members of the Yonkers Police Division “all alongside” McLean Avenue, which is alongside town’s parade route.
He was taken into custody Friday, in the future earlier than the parade, on fees of threatening interstate communications, based on the U.S. Lawyer for the Southern District of New York.
Kola allegedly began posting the messages in 2021, based on a felony grievance. In a Nov. 19, 2021 put up, he allegedly wrote a menace in Albanian that was translated to: “I’m going to slaughter you little women,” the grievance says.
The next month, he allegedly wrote that he was going to kill officers and mayor Mike Spano.
Investigators spoke with Kola in December 2021 at his house. The grievance says that he admitted to writing the messages however mentioned they weren’t critical and he had no plans to hurt officers or the mayor. Police searched his house however discovered no weapons.
Due to the threats, the police division issued a warning to officers “to train diligence and warning” when interacting with Kola.
