Amtrak is restoring service after a slew of practice cancellations, primarily within the Midwest as a result of “a rail-industry management system that continues to expertise intermittent communications points,” based on Amtrak spokesperson W. Kyle Anderson.
The {industry} management system is used to hook up with different railroads, Anderson mentioned. Amtrak trains can function on freight rail strains, so the trains have to hook up with freight railroads to start their journey – that communication was down.
The system points started early Friday morning, Amtrak mentioned.
On Friday, Amtrak started tweeting that a number of trains – many out and in of Chicago – had been canceled. Amtrak’s alert feed on Twitter was nonetheless saying cancellations Sunday morning.
